When Australia’s iconic department store joined forces with the nation’s flagship airline, the result was more than just a fashion show; it was a cultural statement. The David Jones Rewards x Qantas SS25 Runway event reimagined the runway experience, placing fashion in motion and merging retail with travel in a seamless gesture of aspiration.
A NEW KIND OF RUNWAY
Hosted inside Qantas’ Hangar 96 at Sydney Airport, the scale was cinematic. Models marched across a minimalist aviation-inspired set, surrounded by aircraft silhouettes and skylights that framed movement and light in equal measure. As guests watched, the collection unfolded against a backdrop that symbolised departure, arrival and journey.
The runway featured more than 90 looks drawn from Spring/Summer 2025. The edit displayed both home-grown talent and global names, ranging from Australian labels to international luxury houses. The collection captured a modern Australian sensibility: sharp tailoring unified with relaxed layers, vibrant prints set beside tonal restraint, all aligned with effortless readiness.

STYLE IN MOTION
What made this event distinct was not only the visual scale but the partnership’s intention. David Jones Rewards and Qantas Frequent Flyer merged loyalty programmes, allowing members to earn points across both fashion and travel. The runway event served as a live manifestation of that convergence, the idea that how we dress, how we travel and how we belong can coexist.
Models wore resort-inspired separates, daywear with evening energy, and men’s suiting with subtle ease. The collection embraced movement and destination. Whether stepping off a flight or sailing into the evening, the wardrobe seemed ready for both.
EXPERIENCE AS ENGAGEMENT
Live music, aviation motifs and interactive shopping rounded out the evening. Guests were invited not only to view the collection, but to purchase looks immediately via a ‘see-now-buy-now’ format, a nod to both immediacy and access. The runway became a staging ground for luxury to meet lifestyle, for tradition to meet momentum.

The collaboration encapsulated a new direction for Australian luxury: one where brands recognise the fluidity between fashion, experience and travel. The event reaffirmed that retail is no longer static, and that runway shows can be portals to broader worlds.
WHERE RETAIL MEETS HORIZON
This runway marks a turning point. For David Jones, it signals evolution beyond the department store into curation, culture and lifestyle. For Qantas, it reflects ambition beyond flight into identity, design and experience. Together, they invited their audiences to see fashion not merely as dressing, but as movement.

In a moment defined by convergence, the runway reminded us that luxury is not just about aesthetics, it is about perspective, journey and intention.
