Muraka: The World’s First Underwater Villa

Luxury at its finest, this Maldives hotel offers a breathtaking experience, unparalleled by any other. Located in the middle of the Indian Ocean, and more than 16 feet below sea level, the Muraka is the world’s first underwater villa. As part of the Hilton’s Conrad Maldives Rangali Island resort, which is known for its breathtaking beauty and world-first designs, the Maraka presents a unique experience that is not offered anywhere else in the world.

The villa will be exclusively yours and is set away from other beach villas and water bungalows in the area, giving guests complete privacy and clear views. The Maraka Villa offers a once-in-a-lifetime experience – if you can afford it. Costing a US $50,000 a night and only coming available in a four-night package, the US$200,000 price tag sounds well worth it.

Accommodating 9 guests, the two-storey villa gives you the best of both worlds. The top floor, which is located above sea level, measures 550 square metres and offers breathtaking ocean views through glass walls that break down the barrier between outside and in, as well as an infinity pool, living areas, bedrooms, a relaxation deck, an ocean facing bathtub, a gym and private jetty.

Located underwater is the second level of the suite. Measuring 102 square metres, this level consists of a living area, bathroom and master bedroom. The undersea level boasts crystal clear, 180-degree panoramic views of the sea and marine life. Like living in an aquarium, the glass dome allows you to see exotic fish, coral, sharks, stingrays and more. On top of all this, you will have access to massage therapists, personal trainers and more on request.

Guests who stay at the Muraka Villa are flown in by a private seaplane, which lands at the end of their private jetty. From the villa, they will have access to a speedboat, which will take them to shore and will be theirs to use throughout their stay. Conrad Maldives Rangali Island is recognised around the world for its exotic, fresh cuisine, with a choice of 12 award-winning restaurants and bars, so making the trip to inland will be well worth it. The Ithaa Undersea Restaurant, which again is the first of its kind, won Global Restaurant of the Year in 2017.

However, when you have your own butler and chef with 24/7 services and your own private underwater views, what do you choose? The beach dining events are the ones you want to venture to shore for. Opt for a formal candlelit dinner or casual dining experience with pillows on the sand – each beautiful and luxurious, with an abundance of fresh seafood and Maldivian culture.

While you understandably may not want to leave the villa, you will not want to miss out on all the adventure the island has to offer. Take advantage of all the fun activities and take a luxury yacht out for the day, book a diving tour, swim with turtles, go on dolphin cruises and fish as the sun goes down.

Other activities include an array of ocean sports, from snorkelling and stand up paddle boarding, to jetpacking and catamaran sailing.

The Muraka Villa is the pinnacle of luxury and offers only the uppermost premium experience to its guests. From watching the ocean and sea life move past you as you fall asleep, which is a completely new perspective, to the finest dining experiences, the US$50,000 a night price seems diminutive for this experience.

The memories you will make will be priceless and unlike anything else the world has to offer.
