While Sydney real-estate is one of the most expensive in the world, Centennial Parklands Equestrian Centre offers the uniquely fantastical experience of horse-riding just minutes from the Sydney CBD. Located within Moore Park on the former ground of the Royal Easter Show, this historic site is home to over one hundred and ninety horses as well as associated equine facilities.
This establishment was founded in 1882 by the Royal Agricultural Society, after one hundred and fifteen years it was then entrusted to Centennial Park and Moore Park Trust. The trust restored this site to its former grandeur, seamlessly merging history with modern facilities.
Currently, there are nine companies running in the centre, four of which are individual riding schools. These schools keep sixty-two horses and ponies and provide riding lessons tailored to any experience level. If you’re interested in taking a journey at a more relaxed pace they also offer leisure rides through the beautiful Centennial Park.
If you are fortunate enough to have a horse of your own, the Equestrian Centre also has one hundred and thirty-five luxurious privately rented stables. The standard Premium Gold membership gives you a stable in A, B, or D pavilion and use of all facilities on-site and in Centennial park excluding the equestrian grounds.
The most extravagant option, however, is the Premium Deluxe Stalls, offering the largest stables of around an expansive nineteen point three square metres and a substantial space in the tack room. The Deluxe Stalls also have access to all onsite facilities, use of the horse track around Centennial Park, and the magnificent equestrian field.
The Parklands also boast a wonderful array of services and grounds for your horse. The horse track encircling the park stretches for a beautiful three and a half kilometres, perfect for a relaxing amble. If jumping is more your style, there are also three show jumping arenas in the equestrian grounds, as well as a dressage and lunge area.
Furthermore, the Equestrian Centre provides a vet on call twenty-four hours, seven days a week. There is also an on-site farrier for all your hoof care needs. If you’re interested in full agistment and livery care, there are two dedicated handlers on the premises. John Leckie agistment provider and Winsome Equine Services offer full or partial care for your horse at your convenience.
John Leckie has over thirty years of experience in agistment at the Equestrian Centre. He offers a complete package of everything from maintaining water and feeding to dealing with the vet and farrier for you so that you can relax knowing your horse is in excellent hands.
Winsome Equine Services specialises in individual nutritional plans for every animal in their care, each independently created and tailored. They are also happy to exercise your horse and to coordinate transportation to and from events.
For easy accessibility, the Parklands are open to guests every day of the year, from five in the morning to nine at night. Additionally, if a member of the public or a client aver has any questions or queries there is a centre manager available during the day throughout the week.
