Australian billionaire businessman James Packer has listed his superyacht, IJE, for sale. Initially made by Italian shipbuilders Benetti, it was delivered in 2019.
IJE is the largest superyacht ever built by Benetti, coming in at 108-metres and is the flagship of their custom-built fleet. The interior design was done in-house by Benetti’s Interior Design Department and uses a chic design palette throughout the rooms. The exterior was designed by RWD (Redman Whiteley Dixon) and shows off the spectacular lines that RWD is known for.
Unsurprisingly, IJE has impressive specifications with a range of 6,500 nautical miles, roughly 12,000 kilometres; that means that in one trip could take you from Tasmania to Queensland without needing to dock and refuel. The cruise speed is 16 knots, and the maximum speed is 18.5 knots. Two MTU diesel engines power the superyacht with 3,862hp or 2,880kW each. Furthermore, there is an electric Schottel stern SPJ pump jet that allows for some travel periods to occur using entirely electric propulsion. The beam is 14.5-metres, and the maximum draft is 4.4-metres.
Owner’s and guests can relax on four of the decks. The private owner’s deck features a luxurious and large bedroom that opens onto the deck’s aft, study, ensuite bathroom with a marble bath, and a private lounge and seating area. Guests can relax in the sun on the main deck aft by using the generous swimming pool or jacuzzi, reading a book in the sunlit seating area, or enjoying a meal cooked by a private chef in the dining area. At night, guests can stargaze on the bridge deck aft whilst staying warm by the firepit. Furthermore, IJE has a dedicated cinema, nightclub with a bar, and spa.
IJE boasts the largest gym on a yacht of Lloyds’ class, which has a terrace that can open up so that guests can exercise right above the ocean. It also has some of the largest tenders in its class, with two 40ft, 12-metres tenders. A Rolls Royce dynamic positioning system stabilizes the superyacht. There are eleven guest suites, including the owner’s decks, which means that IJE can comfortably have 22 guests and has space for 29 crew.
IJE is named after Packer’s three children with ex-wife Erica Packer, Indigo, Jackson and Emmanuelle. It is said that Packer is selling IJE in favour of a mansion that he is building in the Mexican resort town of Carbo San Lucas. This will house him closer to his three kids, who currently live in Los Angeles with their mother.
Burgess is currently advertising IJE for EUR 175 million (AUD 275 million). Whoever purchases this superyacht will own one of the most immaculately designed superyachts of this decade.
