A Decade of Design: Loewe Celebrates 10 Years of the Puzzle Bag

Since its debut in 2015, Loewe’s Puzzle bag has become a modern icon, a symbol of technical craftsmanship, architectural elegance, and artistic evolution. Designed by creative director Jonathan Anderson, the Puzzle bag broke the mould of traditional handbag design, offering something rarely seen in luxury: innovation that balances both form and function. Now, ten years later, Loewe marks the Puzzle bag’s anniversary with the release of the Puzzle 10 Collection. This limited-edition series not only honours the bag’s legacy but reasserts the house’s commitment to blending fine art with luxury design.

To celebrate a decade of the Puzzle, Loewe has launched a special capsule of 20 reimagined designs, each paying tribute to the bag’s evolution and the artistry that defines the brand. At the centre of the collection is the Confetti Puzzle, a dazzling piece adorned with thousands of hand-applied leather sequins. Inspired by Italian artist Lara Favaretto’s confetti sculptures, the design embodies celebration, chaos, and meticulous beauty all at once.

Other standout designs revisit past collaborations and cultural references. A version adorned with pansy graphics nods to American artist Joe Brainard, while another references William Morris with intricate floral embossing and antique-style hardware. The Pixel Puzzle, with its glitch-inspired pattern, bridges the digital and material world, a bold move that speaks to Loewe’s forward-thinking edge.

Each bag in the collection is produced in extremely limited quantities and comes with special packaging, including commemorative jigsaw puzzles and custom balloon charms. Suede linings, leather marquetry, and intarsia techniques appear throughout, reinforcing the artisanal precision that Loewe has become known for under Anderson’s leadership.

What sets the Puzzle 10 Collection apart is its refusal to rely solely on nostalgia. Instead, Loewe uses the anniversary to push the narrative forward, positioning the brand as a leader not only in fashion but in cultural relevance.

To accompany the launch, Loewe has created a series of immersive pop-up exhibitions in cultural capitals around the world. In New York’s Bergdorf Goodman and London’s Harrods, installations showcase the collection’s craftsmanship in a gallery-like setting. Meanwhile, in Beijing and Taipei, Loewe is hosting artisan-led exhibitions that explore the brand’s process in real time, allowing viewers to see how these bags are built from the inside out.

In parallel, Loewe has unveiled a sleek digital experience that lets users explore the history of the Puzzle bag through interactive visuals, storytelling, and behind-the-scenes detail.
