Australia’s Most Expensive Jet Ski

Yamaha’s 2016 FX Cruiser has been named Australia’s most expensive jet ski at $22,500. The wave-runner is the epitome of power and grandeur.

Yamaha describes it as “The number one selling luxury model in the industry with unparalleled design, performance and technology. The most technologically advanced watercraft ever.”

The beast’s 250 horsepower, four-cylinder engine and fuel injections get it to a top speed of 112km/h. Yamaha also claims it takes only two seconds to reach 48 km/h. The 70-litre fuel tank can last up to a distance of 160km if you’re not gunning it. To add to its superiority and speed, it has 1812cc of torque. But the most remarkable feature is the dual-throttle system. On the right handlebar is the forward throttle. If you’re at a standstill, the left-handle throttle throws it into reverse. When you’re cruising along, that left throttle acts as a brake. The new dual-throttle system allows for smoother braking and tighter handling. You could probably parallel-park it in a space not much longer than its 11.7-foot frame.

The FX Series is described by Yamaha as ‘the epitome of design excellence and is fitted with cruise control, comfy seats, and cupholders. It also features 150L of storage across four different compartments so you can enjoy a full day of water sports. The vessel seats three people ‘comfortably’, and its V-shaped hull is made out of a new ultra-lightweight material called NanoXcel, nanoscale ‘slices’ of clay layered into fibreglass resin. It weighs in at 380kg, making it 25kg lighter than the previous model. As well as being capable of 112 km/h on the water, Yamaha has incorporated bafflers to reduce the noise generated by the supercharged four-stroke engine. They’ve also included self-draining footwells in the design that prevents water from pooling to increase usability and convenience.

Kevin Shaw from the Watercraft Journal describes the jet ski as “From the angled bow to the arching bondline and tapering into a widened fantail with a thickly padded, wider swim step, the new FX is sleeker and bolder than ever before.”

Yamaha also offers a range of expensive toys at the checkout to deck out your new wave-runner, including Bluetooth speakers, a subwoofer, a Garmin GPS, Bluetooth remote, a sports tube kit, and stern storage.

In response to the COVID pandemic, Yamaha has introduced a “contactless” buying program. It allows buyers to scan inventories, arrange test rides, manage paperwork, and schedule vehicle pickup, all without entering a showroom.

So if you want to cruise the waves in style, consider investing in one of these super quick and slick jet skis. It will be sure to impress family and friends and provide great entertainment for all.
