In Australia, one of the prettiest places to visit is Lord Howe Island. 700km north-east of Sydney, the stunning forests, pristine waters and abundance of wildlife make it the perfect holiday destination. Few places on Lord Howe Island are as luxurious and exclusive as Capella Lodge, and it offers unrivalled views of the South Pacific Ocean and the Island’s picturesque twin peaks.
Capella Lodge has five styles of suites available to rent, all suitable for different requirements but all of them radiating deluxe relaxation. The smallest suite is the Capella suite, at 45-meters-squared, which hosts up to two people, with a king or twin beds. The single-level design features a spacious basalt-tiled ensuite with natural lighting, an outdoor deck with a day bed and floor to ceiling windows that look onto stunning mountain and ocean views.
The Lagoon Loft has ample spacious living spaces and a large king bedroom on the upper level. The generous living area on the lower level contains two daybeds that can convert to two single beds for people travelling with family or friends. Also, the chic basalt bathroom includes a rain shower. Relax amongst the Kentia palms, whilst peering through to the ocean and mountain peaks, on the private deck on a day bed or in the hot tub.
If you are travelling as two couples or a family of four, the Catalina Suite is perfect for you. It is the only suite at Capella Lodge with two dedicated bedrooms, the upper-level loft-style king bed as a suite and balcony as well, and on the lower level is another king or twin bed bedroom, the main bathroom with rain shower, Eco-smart fireplace and private deck with day beds and hot tub.
The Makambo Loft is luxurious, living over 160-meters-squared and two levels. There is a loft-style king bed with basalt ensuite and balcony, the main bathroom downstairs has a rain shower, and the private deck includes day beds and a plunge pool. This suite looks onto the soaring Mount Gower.
The Lidgbird Pavilion is the grandest of all the suites and is perfect for couples celebrating special occasions. There is a generous bedroom on the upper level that features wrap-around verandahs with panoramic views of the mountains and ocean and an ensuite. There is a Bang & Olufsen TV and sound system, and the extensive decks include a plunge pool and bath. Guests of the Pavilion have a complimentary premium in-suite bar, sunset drinks and dining in-suite and exclusive use of an electric buggy.
Executive chef Cooper Dickson heads dining at Capella Lodge. The food showcases the best and freshest local produce, and anything not grown or raised on Lord Howe Island is sourced from New South Wales.
Guests can enjoy their time at organised island expeditions, including walks such as the Mt Gower expedition, Little Island walk, Goat House walk, or experiences such as BBQ island-style, golf and birdwatching. If you prefer the water, there are many aquatic adventures available, such as Old Settlement Beach, Ned’s Beach, Boat trips to Ball’s Pyramid or Admiralty Islands, fishing, water sports, surfing, or scuba diving to explore the marine park.
