With projects in Bolivia, Canada, and Australia, Cosmos is advancing lithium extraction through cutting-edge Adsorption-Type Direct Lithium Extraction (A-DLE) technology. Cosmos Exploration Limited listed on the ASX on 24 February 2025 at an issue price of $ 0.105 per share.
Cosmos Begins Synthetic Brine Testing
Cosmos has embarked on an important phase in its lithium extraction strategy by commencing synthetic brine testing at Vulcan Energy Resources’ state-of-the-art facility in Germany.
This process is essential for refining extraction techniques before testing bulk lithium brine samples from Bolivia’s Salar de Coipasa, Salar de Empexa, and Salar de Pastos Grandes.
By using synthetic brine, Cosmos can simulate real-world extraction conditions while fine-tuning Vulcan’s proprietary VULSORB® technology.
VULSORB is an advanced Adsorption-Type Direct Lithium Extraction (A-DLE) material engineered to enhance lithium recovery while minimizing water consumption. The synthetic brine trials will assess how effectively VULSORB can extract lithium from Bolivia’s magnesium-rich brines, which present unique challenges in the extraction process.
The insights gained from this testing phase will directly influence how the bulk brine samples – currently in transit to Germany – are processed at later stages.
Cosmos Expands Lithium Extraction Strategy
Cosmos is strategically positioning itself as a key player in the global lithium market by leveraging this technology. The company is working closely with Bolivia’s state-owned lithium entity, Yacimientos de Litio Bolivianos (YLB), to explore industrial-scale lithium extraction opportunities.
The ongoing trials will provide crucial data that will not only optimize Cosmos’ extraction strategy but also serve as a foundation for potential joint ventures and industrialisation agreements in Bolivia.
This initiative aligns with Cosmos’ broader mission to develop lithium resources sustainably while ensuring high efficiency in lithium recovery.
As global demand for lithium continues to surge, especially for electric vehicles and battery storage, Cosmos’ focus on innovative extraction techniques is expected to enhance its competitive edge and drive shareholder value.
