Escape to Qualia

Quietly nestled on the northern tip of Hamilton Island, you will find a luxurious resort known as Qualia. The private resort was the late Bob Oatley vision, a renowned Australian winemaker, yachtsman, businessman, and philanthropist. As a young man, he sailed past the Island and instantly saw the potential of the Island. In 2003 21st Century Resorts Holding, a company controlled by the Oatley family, won 100% ownership of shares in Hamilton Island.

Guided by Bob’s vision and leadership, the Oatley’s poured more than $450 million into the Island’s development and infrastructure, also including the construction of Qualia. The word Qualia means – “the raw felt qualities of sensations, emotions or thoughts”, and the resort delivers precisely that.

The resort’s design concept was to harmoniously blend the surrounding beauty of the Australian environment with the layout of the resort. Working alongside Australian designer Chris Beckingham, a truly unique slice of paradise was brought to life. Designed with open space in mind where the sweeping views drawing the outside in, with 70 per cent of the Islands bushland protected, the resort is set right amongst the native Eucalypts.

The resort offers a place to unwind completely, a place to find your inner peace or recharge after a stressful event or year. With a strict age limit, 16 years and over, peace and serenity are easily found.

Be greeted with stunning views through the floor-to-ceiling glass windows, solid wood tables that look forever new, matched with the most comfortable lounge chairs. It may seem enticing to lounge away your hours and enjoy the view. Qualia offers an extensive list of activities to get you back in touch with nature. Some activities include snorkelling, helicopter flights, spa packages, sunset walks and diving tours of the great barrier reef.

The resort has three room types, Leeward, Windward and the Beach house. Windward and the Beach house feature their own private plunge pools. Depending on the package you choose to book, it may also provide you with a golf buggy to move around the resort and Island.
