Sydney Opera House has been wowing visitors since its completion in 1973. The famous shell-shaped building is a UNESCO heritage-listed site and has become a symbol of Australia worldwide.
For visitors who seek a behind-the-scenes look at this beloved landmark, there are a range of options available. See the Opera House like you’ve never seen it before with the following selection of unique experiences.
Walk-On Role
Ever wanted the chance to star in an opera?
Fulfil your acting dreams on Sydney’s most iconic stage with a walk-on role. You’ll stand with a 50-person chorus singing to a 1500-strong crowd during a live performance of La Bohème. Taking part in this opera by Giacomo Puccini, one of Italy’s most celebrated composers, is bound to be an unforgettable moment. It’s an exclusive experience only a lucky few are privy to, with 10 spots available every year.
First, you’ll be fitted in your own handmade costume by a costume dresser. Then, you’ll attend rehearsal with the production’s Assistant Director, who will show you the ropes and guide you through the steps of the performance.
Next, you’ll receive a glamorous makeover on the night with hair, makeup and a wig. Then it’s showtime as you step onstage for your debut performance.
You won’t be able to sing with the chorus, but you’ll be part of the action for a magical 15-20 minutes, cheered on by the adoring crowd. The $4999 experience also includes a ticket for your loved one to watch your special moment from the audience.
