Ferrari has officially unveiled its latest high-performance vehicle, the 849 Testarossa, which brings back a legendary name while pushing the brand’s hybrid technology to new heights. This model replaces the SF90 Stradale as Ferrari’s top-tier offering and showcases a blend of cutting-edge performance and classic design inspiration.
Blending Tradition with Innovation
The new 849 Testarossa is powered by an advanced hybrid system that combines a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine with three electric motors. This powertrain produces a total of around 1,050 horsepower, delivering even more output than the SF90. The vehicle achieves speeds over 330 kilometers per hour, proving that hybrid technology can match or exceed traditional combustion engine performance.
Ferrari designers took cues from the iconic 1980s Testarossa, but gave the new model a thoroughly modern appearance. While honoring its heritage through design elements, the vehicle is engineered for future performance standards.

Available in Coupe and Convertible Versions
Ferrari will offer the 849 Testarossa in two styles, a coupe and a Spider version with a retractable roof. The coupe will be launched first in Europe, with the Spider to follow. Deliveries in the United States will come later due to import regulations and taxes.
Pricing for the European market starts at €460,000 for the coupe and rises to €500,000 for the convertible version. The American pricing will be adjusted upward to reflect duties and compliance costs.
A Pivotal Moment for Ferrari’s Lineup
This launch is part of Ferrari’s broader strategy to blend combustion engines with electrified powertrains. Alongside the 849 Testarossa, Ferrari has recently introduced the Amalfi, a gasoline-only coupe that succeeds the Roma, and is preparing to debut its first fully electric model in 2026.
By offering hybrid models like the 849 Testarossa, Ferrari is navigating a middle ground. The brand aims to retain its distinctive driving experience while transitioning into more sustainable technologies. CEO Benedetto Vigna has confirmed that Ferrari will continue producing petrol and hybrid cars even as it prepares to enter the electric market.
Performance and Driving Experience
In addition to its impressive specifications, the 849 Testarossa includes a number of features aimed at enhancing the driving experience:
- The car uses adaptive aerodynamics to improve handling at high speeds while maintaining Ferrari’s signature styling.
- Its three electric motors, two at the front and one at the rear, enable all-wheel drive and advanced torque distribution for sharper cornering and improved traction.
- Ferrari emphasises that performance is about more than numbers. The sound of the new turbocharged engine, the response of the transmission, and the precision of the steering all contribute to a driving experience that feels alive and engaging.

Launch Timeline and Strategic Impact
European deliveries for the 849 Testarossa will begin in mid to late 2026, with the Spider variant arriving shortly after. In the U.S., buyers will receive their vehicles a few months later, following regulatory approval and shipping logistics.
This model does more than replace an older one; it represents Ferrari’s ongoing shift into the era of hybrid and electric mobility. With the 849 Testarossa, the brand is proving it can deliver thrilling performance and unmistakable style while preparing for an electric future. It is a car that reflects both where Ferrari has been and where it is heading.
