Louis Vuitton once again captivates the world of haute joaillerie with the launch of Chapter II of its Deep Time High Jewelry collection. Building upon the success of its inaugural release, Chapter II takes enthusiasts on a mesmerizing journey of planetary changes and ever-transforming life.
Francesca Amfitheathrof’s fifth and newest collection is a testament to the brand’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of creativity and craftsmanship. At the heart of Chapter II lies a celebration of Earth’s natural beauty, with 50 meticulously crafted pieces interpreted through an array of precious gemstones and exquisite designs across 10 themes. From dazzling necklaces adorned with radiant diamonds to inspired bracelets and rings, each creation is a masterpiece of elegance and innovation.
The story of Deep Time begins with geology and takes us back to when Earth was made up of two supercontinents – Gondwana and Laurasia. Laurasia is now celebrated through a contrast of exquisite yellow diamonds and metals. Then, seismic meteorological events that usher Earth into a new dawn of life inspire Drift. Golden sapphires honour the sun along a single-strand necklace accented with classic V motifs, and there’s a gold bracelet to match. The new age is also seen in Myriad. The necklace features a DNA-like structure that works alongside another necklace and a matching cuff, as well as multiple pairs of earrings and a ring.
A new theme in Deep Time, Symbiosis, is inspired by the first organic ecosystems of Earth. Particularly, fungi and mycelium are emphasized through pastel hues, delicate jewels, and elaborate forms. Then, the collection enters Fossils, which highlights the evolution of life through royal blue sapphires, and further grows into Plants that showcase lush foliage through intricate designs that incorporate custom-cut diamonds and emeralds.
Skin sets the tone for Deep Time’s final themes by documenting life as it flourishes. The suite highlights the Umba sapphire, which is enhanced by the use of rose gold. Graphic snake-skin patterns are then combined with pink and orange hues in the necklace, bracelet, ring, and ear cuffs. The collection moves on to celebrate human life and form in Bones. The centrepiece of this theme is a choker-style necklace that features an LV Monogram star-cut diamond which goes along with another graphic necklace, double-hoop ear cuffs, and rings.
Seeds symbolize birth and its treasures, and it is celebrated through the introduction of pearls. This suite includes a necklace that features Tahitian pears, a matching bracelet, and white gold earrings adorned with golden pearls. Flower concludes Deep Time’s story. The final suite comprises the centrepiece necklace that has a flower medallion, a matching ring, and a pair of earrings.
