Acclaimed luxury hotel group Mandarin Oriental has opened a new resort in Messenia, in the southwest Peloponnese. The beachfront resort marks the hospitality group’s first venture in Greece and becomes the newest addition to the region’s Costa Navarino development; also comprised of The Romanos, a Luxury Collection Resort, The Westin Resort, Costa Navarino and W Costa Navarino.
The luxury resort has ninety-nine suites and villas that benefit from spacious terraces or private pools, including warm living spaces that mirror the property’s setting. All guests have the choice of five restaurants and bars that are all headed by executive chef, Bertrand Valegeas, and serve authentic Greek cuisine at Oliviera and Levantine specialties at Tahir.
Guests can expect an extraordinary experience throughout their stay with the award-winning Mandarin Oriental group. The resort’s spa contains several facilities that are specifically designed to offer guests a relaxing respite from the busy modern world. The range of treatments on offer is complimented by an impressive 25-meter indoor-outdoor swimming pool, a hammam, a cold bath and herbal sauna – all offering guests a slice of luxurious living whilst taking in the spectacular Grecian surroundings.
The Mandarin Oriental also provides visitors with an exclusive beach club experience where they can enjoy activities such as paddle boarding and water skiing. Alternatively, one can try one of the resort’s local experiences that involves olive oil tastings, traditional cooking classes or excursions to historic Greek landmarks. Neighbouring the resort is an 18-hole golf course with three other surrounding courses that keen golfers can take on. The array of activities highlights the resort’s commitment to providing guests with the ultimate vacation experience.
All accommodation has been structured to make the most of the resort’s exquisite location overlooking Navarino Bay. The sheltered suites and villas are designed to subtly blend into the picturesque Mediterranean landscape. One option for guests is the luxurious Mandarin Pool Villa which features a master bedroom with a bathtub. Decorated in a contemporary, chic style, the living area invites guests to relax and enjoy the breathtaking views of the beautiful bay via the private terrace, complete with a pool.
Tombazis and Associates and K-Studio worked closely on the design that aimed to intertwine bioclimatic principles and green living models. For the external building, locally sourced materials were used to further enhance an authentic Greek experience for guests. The architects describe how design inspiration was sourced from the region’s agricultural traditions and rich cultural heritage.
Nestled in one of the most unspoiled and breathtaking landscapes in the Mediterranean, Costa Navarino guarantees a unique experience of unparalleled Greek beauty coupled with a renowned service from the Mandarin Oriental. It is certainly becoming a new hotspot that offers an extraordinary vacation experience.
