If you like fast boats, you’d want to own one of these Cigarette Racing 515 Project One boats; crafted to be long and narrow, they’re made for speed and smoking fast! The slick Mercedes-AMG super boat hits a top speed of 225 km/h because of its 3100 total horse speed.
As the teams fastest boat, it is more advanced than the previous nine boats they have produced in their 11-year partnership and, therefore, the jewel of their collection and prize possession. They debuted this beauty at the 2018 Miami International Boat Show.
Journalist Tamara Warren described it as “Miami Boat Show feels a bit like a billionaire boys club and Braver’s company has the swankiest display at the show”.
Skip Braver bought Cigarette racing in 2002. He partnered with Mercedes-AMG to create impressive and innovative boats made of quality materials to achieve high speeds. He describes their philosophy as
“We’re a luxury brand project. We want people who really appreciate technology, fit and finish. Maybe some of the traditional ways people are building boats are not the way we’re doing it.”
Project 515 is speedier and proportionally lighter than the preceding Mercedes-AMG Cigarette boat, the Marauder. Sitting at almost 16m long and 3m wide, it seats an additional passenger (six total) and offers a 30 percent greater surface. It also features a different weight balance and a totally new deck and hull. The materials carbon fibre and Kevlar have been used to create low weight and high strength characteristics. The deck is also constructed entirely of carbon fibre to reduce weight and lower the centre of gravity.
“It’s a combination of Kevlar, E-glass, and different things from Formula One. This boat has become our halo R&D. What we learned is what no one said we could do. We took a boat and made it longer and wider.” said Braver speaking on the design concept.
Power comes two top-of-the-line Formula 1 Mercury Racing V-8 engines delivering a combined 2,700 horsepower with pump fuel and up to 3,100 horses with racing fuel. The boat’s look and colour scheme is based on the Mercedes-AMG Project One hybrid supercar developed from Formula 1. The boats are fitted with customized Garmin screens to minimize glare, communicate with the boat’s engine systems, and read the propeller’s pitch.
The boats cost 2 million dollars, and very few people will experience the invigorating and adrenaline rushing ride and speeds because the company doesn’t offer test drives. If you ever get the chance to go for a spin, relish in the exclusivity and luxury afforded to you.
