Qantas has just launched their new First Class Lounge in Singapore, boasting a fresh design and included restaurant. Offering an elegant pre-flight lounge allows Qantas first class flyers to relax and indulge right before their long haul home or overseas.
Inside the beautifully designed lounge, there is seating for 240 travellers, which was made to reduce the overcrowding in the Qantas Business Lounge in Singapore, right next door. Completed with Neil Perry’s international Rockpool restaurant, the large indoor space provides the ultimate oasis for travellers in their lay-over.
“We’ve combined some of the classic Qantas first class design features and added an authentic Singaporean twist, creating a calming sense of luxury”, David Caon – designer and Qantas collaborator.
Qantas has also put a large focus on the wellbeing of their first class flyers, providing ten luxurious, marble-clad shower suites available for all guests to freshen up and prepare for their flight. The lucky flyers that are able to experience this will be able to use the stimulated skylights that mimic natural sunshine and the option to adjust the lighting to suit their destination time-zone.
With Neil Perry’s renowned restaurant marking it’s spot in this lounge, the a la carte menu is available all day for first class flyers. The dishes available consists of the best Singapore delicacies but also with a taste of Australia. Perry has incorporated dishes such as the laksa and meals like a grilled steak, perfect for flyers to experience the best of both cultures.
Alan Joyce, CEO of Qantas mentioned that “people want to sleep, particularly when coming from a leg into Australia, so they get a meal before they come on board and then go straight to sleep on the aircraft. We think there is a big demand for that and that’s one of the reasons why we are going with all of these extra seats in the lounge”.
The whole brand new lounge cost tens of millions to build and design, but marks a huge step forward in Qantas’ investment in the Singapore region, and also encourages Australian’s to use this country as a hub for lay-overs.
Incorporating the natural textures and neutral colours that the designers have used, allow for a calm and relaxing vibe, away from the chaos in the corridors in the rest of the airport. There are multiple intimate spaces to relax, work or read, and everything from reading chairs to hidden nooks are perfect for the whole family to experience.
The delicious cocktail bar will serve the frequent flyers an array of refreshing cocktails, champagne, and unique seasonal spritzes.
The lounge is open from 2.30pm to midnight daily, and includes features such as internet access, WiFi, newspapers and magazines, and barista coffee.
