At first glance, The Barisieur Tea & Coffee Alarm clock from London- based Joy Resolve looks like some contraption belonging to a science lab. In reality, it is a high tech coffeemaker with innovation perfect for those working from home, making waking up a total pleasure. The multi-functioning machine not only wakes you up with the sound and aroma of coffee beans, but it brews a fresh cup of coffee right by your bedside.
The Barisieur was first announced by Joy Resolve’s product designer Joshua Renouf, who introduced it to the world back in 2016 on Kickstarter and Indiegogo, where he raised over $750,000. With a mini milk fridge, a drawer for storing coffee, a smart induction coil, and a display clock, there was so much to love about The Barisieur. Now, five years since the first version released, the famous bedside barista has been updated.
The designers behind The Barisieur 2.0 quite literally thought of everything for this updated version to ensure that users wouldn’t even need to get out of bed in the morning to make their first cup of coffee. The machine can sit on a nightstand or dresser and be scheduled to start brewing at any time. In addition to the main tea and coffee making hardware, it features an integrated mini-cooler with an infrared sensor to detect milk and keep it cold around the clock. It is even intelligent enough to turn off the refrigeration once the milk has chilled to 3 degrees Celsius. Furthermore, the built-in storage drawer will keep tea of coffee grounds fresh for up to a week. All you need to do is set everything up the night before, set the alarm and wake up to the amazing aroma of fresh-brewed coffee.
The Barisieur 2.0 isn’t just some infomercial-Esque novelty for making just any old cup of coffee, either. Joy Resolve’s engineers designed The Barisieur to make a great cup of coffee fast. On schedule or on-demand, the unit’s smart induction coil boils the water in three minutes. The water is then forced into a pipet and through a showerhead-style sprayer to distribute over the coffee grounds evenly. It’s all filtered through a dual-layer mesh filter to better extract the coffee oils for a more full-bodied brew without any sediment or grit. In addition, the included reusable stainless steel filter means far less paper waste than a traditional drip-brew coffeemaker.
The Barisieur Immersion Edition retails for $600 and eases you into each morning, awakening the senses with the calming sound of bubbling water and the smell of freshly brewed tea with its no-effort, bedside functionality. The design, which balances simplicity and mystified alchemy, creates a nostalgic and comforting experience. Whether it’s a lazy Sunday or a busy day of work ahead, starting it off with a freshly brewed cup of tea will make waking up a more enjoyable experience.
