The Marriott in Surfers Paradise is Now Open After Finishing $35 Million Renovations

If, like most Australians, you’ve spent the last 12 months getting better acquainted with your home and surrounding areas you’re probably feeling the travel bug. With Queensland’s borders open to other states, what better reason is there than to take a trip up to the Marriott in Surfer’s Paradise to escape the coming winter chill.

The luxury resort has just completed its reported $35 million renovations which began in the middle of last year. So what does a $35 million facelift look like? To start, a total refresh of the 223 rooms and suites, the lobby lounge and bar, the pool bar, as well as the Marriott’s two original restaurants.

The resort’s teppanyaki restaurant, Misono has been renovated to incorporate an expanded Japanese dining experience. A traditional Japanese tea room, Izakaya, sushi bar and a new Japanese whiskey bar heighten the already luxurious space, made even better by being able to enjoy such facilities in their stunning new outdoor terrace.

Citrique, the resort’s main restaurant, now features a new interactive show kitchen, placing fresh, locally sourced produce and seafood at the heart of its daily menu. Furthermore, the restaurant has also scored a new JW Market, which is the hotel’s own café and provedore, serving freshly ground coffee and healthy bites you can grab and go.

“Our philosophy is to help guests focus on feeling whole, whether that is present in mind, nourished in body or revitalised in spirit, fused with the distinctive warm hospitality the Gold Coast is known for,” says Ravinder Dhesi, the resort’s General Manager.

Serving as responsible members of the local community, JW Marriott is now sporting their own gorgeous new garden, that’s stocked with all sorts of fresh herb and ingredients to provide guests with an authentic farm-to-table experience. Guests can also sign up for hands-on cooking classes or herb planting activities, all scheduled to keep both the adults and kids entertained throughout their stay. The theme of nature was central to the hotel’s design when the property was first conceptualized in the 90s.

Now is the perfect time to escape and take that long-awaited and much needed holiday!
