In December, The Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) announced that the upcoming edition of New York Fashion Week will take place over 10 days in February, commencing with menswear shows from February 5th to the 7th, followed up by womenswear and coed displays, February 8th to 14th, deviating from the usual NYFW schedule. The latest Tom Ford womenswear collection will be presented during New York’s upcoming fashion week. His 2024 Spring Collection will exhibit the theme of indulgence, anticipated to lead the carefree ambience of the show.
‘My customer has her sense of style and knows herself well. My goal is to make women become the best of themselves.’ – Tom Ford
Tom Ford is an iconic fashion designer who launched his eponymous luxury brand in 2005. In November, Lauder acquired Tom Ford’s company for $2.8 billion and had Guillaume Jesel appointed as president and CEO. His luxury fashion house, Tom Ford, now licensed and branded under Estée Lauder Cos., announced its spring 2024 womenswear collection reveal during Milan Fashion Week in September. Designed by Peter Hawkings, this collection is featured as his debut womenswear collection as a recently made creative director. However, Hawkings is not the only designer who will be debuting at Milan Fashion Week. Gucci’s new creative director Sabato De Sarno is due to present his first Tom Ford show in September. Accompanied by Valentino and Alessandro Michele, their central bold purpose is stated to remind the world of the inner beauty that women have the potential to show by presenting them visually.
‘A woman who dresses in black and white is a strong woman with a great personality, a determined woman.’ – Valentino Garvani
Having previously worked at Gucci under Ford’s leadership, Hawking has played a crucial role in the development of Gucci menswear. Thus, in designing alongside Ford for 17 years, he will take on the extravagant role of overseeing womenswear, menswear, and accessory categories. ‘I am honoured to have been appointed creative director of Tom Ford and to have this unique opportunity to help write the next chapter in the brand’s future. Italian craftsmanship and excellence have been a source of inspiration for our collections, and I am delighted to be showing during Milan Fashion Week,’ said Hawkings. With the Summer/Spring 2024 labelled as ‘wild and unconstrained’, Ford’s collection is expected to be immensely experienced in the amalgamation of pleasure and indulgence into fashion following his SS23 collection being ‘simply inspired by fun’. A trend researcher, Tillessen, states with reference to Tom Ford that ‘The idealism of the past is passé and is increasingly being corroded by nihilism,’ and at the very least hedonism.
Tom Ford’s spring 2024 womenswear collection remains highly anticipated, with luxury fashion enthusiasts looking forward to taking a peek at the creative vision of Peter Hawkings and the brand’s new direction under Estée Lauder Cos’ ownership.
