Visit Makepeace Island, One of Australia’s Most Exclusive Private Island Getaways

Makepeace Island is one of Australia’s most exclusive and luxurious private island getaways. Situated minutes away, by private boat ride, from Noosa Heads, Makepeace Island is the perfect holiday to bask in the sunshine in absolute peace.

Developed in 2009 as a private island retreat for Sir Richard Branson and Brett Godfrey and their family and friends, Makepeace Island has been available for exclusive hire since 2011. The Makepeace Ownership family has since grown to include Radek Sali, the chairman and founder of Light Warrior, and Cathie Reid and Stuart Giles, co-founders of Icon Cancer Care Group.

The luxury design of Makepeace Island comes from the imagination of acclaimed interior designer June Robinson Scott. She creates a tranquil environment by combining contemporary living with traditional tropical island design. Scott is also known for her design work with Necker Island and The Branson Estate, Moskito Island. Makepeace Island focuses on sustainability, so they use organic produce, have a recycling and wastewater purification system, and source produce and amenities regionally to support the local community. Makepeace Island is a perfect retreat to refresh yourself in harmony with nature through thoughtful design and a sustainability focus.

Hiring Makepeace Island provides exclusive use of all the island’s facilities, including three luxury villas, four spacious rooms in the Island House and their Boathouse. The Boathouse is situated right on Noosa River with endless views of the green-forested Noosa Northshore. It also features a waterfront balcony to enjoy the sunrises and sunsets that silhouette the forest and glisten off the river. The luxury villas have a large outdoor deck with stunning garden or water views, a spacious bathroom featuring a carved volcanic boulder bath and a dazzling entry foyer with a waterfall and fishpond. The Island House has four bedrooms with hand-carved Balinese furniture, an ensuite and a private deck.

Further Island facilities are a 500,000-litre pool, 15 seater spa, tennis court, gymnasium, walking trails, paddling boards and kayaks. An essential part of the Makepeace Island experience is the private boat trips to and from Noosa Heads and trips along the Noosa River.

A focal point of a stay at Makepeace Island is the food. Executive chef Zeb Gilbert prepares all meals on the island. He brings a wealth of experience to the island, having held two Chefs Hats for seven consecutive years during his work as the executive chef of The Wasabi Group. Gilbert makes every holiday at Makepeace Island unique with a bespoke menu for each guest stay. He uses local, seasonal produce and works closely with local producers to ensure the highest quality for every menu.

Makepeace Island is one of Australia’s most unique private island getaways. It has the perfect balance of luxury and nature to create the utmost relaxing vacation. Why not visit the serenity of Makepeace Island for your next holiday?
