Maserati, Lamborghini, and Bentley have already rolled out SUVs and Aston Martin also recently announced its Lagonda brand which includes the Lagonda SUV. Now, after three years of testing and teasing, Rolls Royce joined the club and revealed its first all-wheel-drive vehicle, The Cullinan. The new model has surprised the market with its astonishing high-bodied car features.
This first Rolls-Royce SUV can take you anywhere you like without a compromise, giving you the absolute experience of a luxury lifestyle in an off-road journey.
Torsten Müller-Ötvös, Chief Executive Officer, Roll-Royce Motor Cars.
Prior to its release event, the Kodari team attended last week in Sydney, the Rolls-Royce Cullinan prototype was put through the Final Challenge Tour, an off-road course across the Scottish Highlands, USA and Arab deserts — where there are some of the highest densities of Rolls-Royce models — in collaboration with National Geographic. The Cullinan went through the extreme weather conditions in those three countries completely unscathed, showcasing its supreme off-road capabilities.
The final challenge videos are available on a YouTube series, which include the dangerous high-speed hill climbing in the famous Pikes Peak in Colorado, treacherous terrains, rivers, steep, rocky surfaces in Scotland and the high-speed drift on an ice lake.
The director of design, Giles Taylor, told Forbes that the goal in creating the new Rolls model was to, “create a clean, modern and contemporary design that is absolutely functional with a little bit of tough elegance and a little bit of glamour”.
Creating such luxury, in an all-terrain vehicle was something new to the market and the unique model gives a great sense of adventure without compromising luxury comfort.
Redefining the traditional SUV, Cullinan’s size and aesthetics truly give the owner a sense of dominance and power. It’s a 5.3-metres long, 2.1m wide and 1.8m tall and weighs 2,660kg unladen. Its features include Phantom’s twin turbo, 6.75-litre V12 engine, with the promise to deliver 563bhp/420kW and 850Nm/627lb ft of torque.
The Cullinan has a large grille on a high hood with massive rectangular headlights and candelabra-inspired rear lights. Inside the SUV is a sophisticated, classy and detailed interior with lush tactile surfaces.
The spectacular luxurious ambience includes amazing digital graphics, touchscreen multimedia display, higher rear passenger seats and an upgraded driver assistance system which includes four camera systems with a helicopter view and a high-resolution head-up display.
The rear compartment can be transformed into a recreation module or a viewing suite with a cocktail table and a pair of folded leather seats. To add more exciting features — and with the current customisation craze — Rolls Royce offers customers the absolute freedom to personalise their Cullinan.
This highly-desired vehicle will go on sale at the end of the year, with prices ranging from $350,000 to $500,000.
