Koenigsegg’s Jesko Absolut Shatters the 0-400-0 km/h Speed Record

The Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut, the latest in their line of extraordinary hypercars, has shattered the 0-400-0km/h record with an astonishing time of 27.83 seconds, setting a new benchmark for the automotive world.

The record-setting run took place at an airfield in Örebro, Sweden, with the Jesko Absolut driven by Koenigsegg’s own test driver, Markus Lundh. This performance eclipsed the previous record held by the Koenigsegg Regera, which completed the same feat in 28.81 seconds earlier in 2023. What sets the Jesko Absolut apart is its sheer focus on straight-line speed, embodying the pinnacle of Koenigsegg’s engineering prowess.

The Absolute Edge in Performance

The Jesko Absolut is a marvel of engineering designed specifically for high-speed runs. Its aerodynamic design includes a reduced frontal area and minimal drag-inducing elements. The car’s streamlined body features limited and targeted venting, designed to efficiently manage high-pressure air, and notably lacks active aerodynamics—every element of its design prioritises reducing drag.

With an impressive drag coefficient (Cd) of just 0.278, the Jesko Absolut boasts one of the lowest drag figures in the hypercar category. This remarkable aerodynamic efficiency is key to its record-breaking capabilities. At the heart of the Jesko Absolut is a 5.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine, powered by E85 fuel. This state-of-the-art engine features a lightweight flat-plane crankshaft and a dry sump system, producing a formidable 1195kW and 1500Nm of torque. The immense power is directed to the rear wheels through a nine-speed dual-clutch transmission, ensuring rapid acceleration and precise control.

Precision and Innovation in Every Detail

Koenigsegg’s dedication to innovation extends beyond the engine. The Jesko Absolut’s chassis is a sophisticated carbon fibre monocoque, incorporating aluminium honeycomb and integrated fuel tanks, all within a robust safety cell featuring integrated crumple zones. This advanced construction not only enhances safety but also optimises weight distribution and rigidity.

The two-door, two-seat configuration of the Jesko Absolut features a pre-impregnated carbon-fibre and Kevlar body, further reinforced with lightweight sandwich materials. Inside, the car is fitted with carbon-fibre sport bucket seats with memory foam, combining comfort with the necessary support for high-speed runs.

For this record attempt, the Jesko Absolut was in its standard, as-delivered condition. It ran on E85 pump fuel and was equipped with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup2 R tyres. The only modifications included a roll cage for added driver safety and a single race seat, chosen by Lundh for the event. The accuracy of the record-setting performance was meticulously verified using industry-standard timing equipment from Racelogic, with data confirmed by Racelogic HQ in the UK.

A Glimpse into the Future

While the official record for 0-400-0km/h stands at 27.83 seconds, the Jesko Absolut’s potential extends even further. The car accelerated from a standstill to 412km/h in one run, a feat that may be a record in its own right. Koenigsegg’s founder and CEO, Christian von Koenigsegg, has confidently claimed that the Jesko Absolut could potentially reach speeds of up to 532km/h. He has expressed a clear desire to demonstrate this capability, further fueling the excitement and anticipation surrounding this hypercar.

With only 125 units of the Jesko Absolut slated for production, the opportunity to witness or own one of these engineering marvels is a rare privilege. The record-breaking run not only highlights the extraordinary capabilities of the Jesko Absolut but also underscores Koenigsegg’s relentless pursuit of automotive excellence.

In the fast-paced realm of hypercars, the Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut epitomises what can be achieved through cutting-edge innovation, meticulous engineering, and a bold pursuit of speed. As enthusiasts and experts alike look forward to future developments, one fact is undeniable: Koenigsegg remains at the forefront of redefining the limits of automotive performance.
