With less than a year left until the 2022 Olympic Winter Games in Beijing, Omega, the official timekeeper of the Olympics, has officially marked the occasion with a new commemorative timepiece.
Dubbed the Omega Seamaster Diver 300M “Beijing 2022” Special Edition, this watch is designed to cater to the growing demand for Omega Olympic watches, which has seen a significant rise in the pandemic year, despite the postponement of the 2020 Japan Olympics.
“Omega has been the official timekeeper of the Olympic Games since 1932,” the watchmaker explained in a recent press release. “During that time, the company has been proud to record the dreams of the world’s greatest athletes and time many of the most famous sporting moments in history. Beijing 2022 will mark the company’s 30th occasion in the role.”
The Seamaster Diver 300M “Beijing 2022” is a 42mm stainless steel watch with twisted lyre lugs and a laser-ablated titanium relief bezel featuring a 60-minute diving scale. The watch’s main attraction is its ceramic dial in an oceanic blue sunburst finish, which features a subtle tingle of the familiar Olympic ring colours. The watch has rhodium-plated indexes, which are marked in one of the five colours of the Olympic rings at the 12, 2, 4, 8 and 10 o’clock positions. Furthermore, the hands on the dial are also rhodium-plated and the indexes filled with Super-LumiNova.
The commemorative timepiece is powered by an in-house Calibre 8800 co-axial automatic movement and boasts 55 hours of power reserve. Sticking true to its name and other significant editions of the Seamaster Diver 300M line, the watch also has a 300-meter water resistance.
The “Beijing 2022” special edition Seamaster comes on a five-link stainless steel bracelet and has a unique case back design with the Beijing 2022 Olympic logo engraved on it. It comes with the company’s patented Naiad Lock system that makes sure the engraving is perfectly aligned each time you may have to open the case back.
While we still have to wait until next year for the winter games to begin officially, the commemorative Seamaster Diver 300M “Beijing 2022” Special Edition is available to buy now.
