Urban Oasis: A New Luxury Bathhouse Reimagines Wellness on Sydney’s North Shore

A heritage-listed architectural gem is being transformed into a state-of-the-art wellness retreat on Sydney’s North Shore. Escape Bathhouse blends traditional hydrotherapy with contemporary luxury, creating a destination where self-care meets social connection.

Opening in spring 2025, Escape Bathhouse will breathe new life into the Seymour building—a stunning example of 1930s Spanish Mission-style architecture. Once a quiet heritage site, it is now being reimagined as a 320-square-metre sanctuary of indulgence and serenity. With its graceful arches, terracotta tiles, and sun-drenched courtyards, the building offers a soulful backdrop to an experience designed for deep rejuvenation.

Every detail of the two-level space has been curated to elevate the senses. On the ground floor, a warm mineral pool invites unhurried immersion, while the wellness bar serves botanical infusions, tonics, and adaptogenic blends—all alcohol-free and beautifully presented. Upstairs, the contrast of heat and cold awaits: infrared saunas, a steam room, and ice baths designed to invigorate circulation, sharpen the mind, and restore balance. Private treatment rooms offer tailored massage therapies for those seeking complete tranquillity.

The vision comes from the award-winning team behind Sierra Escape, renowned for blending luxury with nature in Mudgee’s wine country. “We’ve always been passionate about creating spaces where people can truly reconnect—with themselves, with their partners, and with their friends,” says co-founder Tasch D’Arcy. With Escape Bathhouse, they bring that same ethos into the heart of Sydney, offering a restorative escape just minutes from the city’s pulse.

Escape Bathhouse is more than a place—it’s a movement. It marks a cultural shift toward slow, intentional living, where wellness is not an afterthought, but a beautifully designed ritual. Inspired by European bathhouse traditions and infused with contemporary Australian style, it’s a space that invites conversation, introspection, and community.

Now under construction, the venue is already drawing attention as one of the most anticipated luxury openings of the year. Whether you’re a wellness devotee, a design enthusiast, or simply in need of respite, Escape Bathhouse offers an experience unlike anything else in Sydney. Memberships and packages will be available, catering to both occasional visitors and those seeking a regular sanctuary of stillness and renewal.
