Cartier’s exquisite Libre Polymorph collection is inspired by the constant influx of nature as it grows, evolves, and replenishes, and it is imagined across a range of jewellery and watches. As part of Cartier Libre which boasts designs that are made with “total freedom,” the collection sets out to amaze collectors and enthusiasts alike with its innovation and Polymorph, an impeccable demonstration of Cartier’s superior finesse.
The Cartier Libre Polymorph collection was unveiled with an exclusive new bracelet, celebrated at Harrods in London in line with the brand’s 175th anniversary. Showcasing the brand’s pursuit of innovative excellence in craftsmanship, the ring-shaped bangle combines custom-cut onyx with golden threads, taking from the Japanese art Kintsugi. Also, the bracelet is a style that has since been part of the catalogue beginning from the 1930s.
Aside from the limited-edition bangle, there’s an immaculate bracelet representing the sun’s trajectory through an interplay of sunrise-coloured jewels, and there’s an open-work bracelet that blooms and contracts just like a flower.
There are also spiral watch brooches, and a ring fitted with four rotating discs of onyx, white gold, and diamonds that are reminiscent of an eclipse. Additionally, there’s an off-the-wall, snow-set diamond-dripping carabiner that features a watch face lined by coloured beads in turquoise, onyx, lapis lazulil, chrysoprase, and black spinel and can be attached to a bag or belt.
Other pieces include a diamond and onyx claw clip lined with four large moonstones that reveal a 10-millimetre by 11-millimetre quartz watch when pressed, a shoulder jewel-cum-watch, where a bejewelled tassel sits at one end and a quarts watch shaped like a dog tag on the other, and modular earrings-to-tiara built from onyx, coral, emeralds, and diamonds.
Carter Libre grew from the Paris Nouvelle Vague initiative that began in 1999, according to house director of image, style, and heritage Pierre Rainero, inviting any member of the Cartier design studio, jewellers and clasp-makers alike, to propose ideas. This initiative is a testament to the luxury retailer’s constant pursuit of fresh inspiration for its flagship designs and staying true to the brand’s identity while spotlighting its savoir-faire and innovation in the world of technique and design.
As a result, the Cartier Libre line has served as the brand’s canvas for its experiments with popular watch models and for exploring its signature design codes, such as the Crash Radieuse timepiece, the Baignoire watch case, and the Baignoire Turtle watch.
Overall, Cartier’s release of the Libre Polymorph collection marks another chapter in the brand’s legacy of innovation and artistic expression. With a fusion of nature-inspired motifs and cutting-edge craftsmanship, each crafted piece embodies Cartier’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of creativity. Through this collection, Cartier continued to redefine luxury and inspire awe with its unparalleled visionary design.
