Lamborghini’s Fenomeno Roadster Is the Brand’s Most Extreme Open Top Creation Yet

Lamborghini has never approached convertibles as softened alternatives to its coupe models. The new Fenomeno Roadster continues that tradition with uncompromising force. Combining a naturally aspirated V12 with three electric motors, the Italian marque’s latest Few Off model delivers the same breathtaking performance as its hard top sibling while elevating the sensory drama of open top driving.

The Fenomeno Roadster arrives as the latest chapter in Lamborghini’s storied Few Off lineage, a bloodline reserved for the brand’s most exclusive and technically ambitious machines. That modern tradition began with the Reventón in 2007 and expanded with icons such as the Veneno, Centenario, and Sián. Each introduced radical design ideas and engineering solutions that would eventually influence Lamborghini’s broader production models.

Now, the Fenomeno Roadster carries that torch into the hybrid era.

Unveiled during the second edition of Lamborghini Arena, the new model follows the Fenomeno Coupé first introduced in 2025. Yet despite sharing its architecture with the coupe, the Roadster was far more than a roof removal exercise. Lamborghini engineers completely reworked the aerodynamic package to ensure the open top model retained the same levels of stability, downforce, and cooling efficiency as its fixed roof counterpart.

The result is a machine that feels purpose built from the outset. Every line, vent, and carbon fiber detail serves a technical purpose while contributing to a shape that appears sculpted by airflow itself.

“Fenomeno Roadster represents the purest expression of our brand values: visionary design, uncompromising performance, and absolute exclusivity,” said Stephan Winkelmann, President and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini. “Each example is conceived as a collectible masterpiece, where engineering excellence meets true bespoke craftsmanship.”

At the center of the Fenomeno Roadster sits Lamborghini’s most emotionally charged engineering achievement: a naturally aspirated 6.5 liter V12 paired with an advanced hybrid system.

In an automotive landscape increasingly dominated by turbocharging and silent electrification, Lamborghini has doubled down on theatrical performance. The V12 alone produces 835 CV at a soaring 9,250 rpm, making it the most powerful twelve cylinder engine the company has ever developed. Torque peaks at 725 Nm, while the engine achieves a remarkable specific output of more than 128 CV per liter.

That combustion engine works alongside three electric motors. Two are mounted at the front axle, while a third sits above the eight speed dual clutch transmission. Together, the system produces a combined 1,080 CV, or approximately 1,065 horsepower.

Performance figures are predictably astonishing. Lamborghini claims the Roadster can sprint from zero to 100 km/h in just 2.4 seconds before reaching 200 km/h in 6.8 seconds. Flat out, the car exceeds 340 km/h.

More impressive than the numbers, however, is the character of the drivetrain itself. The electric motors sharpen throttle response and provide instant torque delivery, while the naturally aspirated V12 retains the progressive power build and spine tingling soundtrack enthusiasts crave. With the roof removed, every intake roar and exhaust crackle becomes part of the driving experience in an even more visceral way.

The Fenomeno Roadster also introduces fully electric driving capability through its 7 kWh lithium ion battery pack, signaling Lamborghini’s continued transition toward electrification without sacrificing emotional engagement.

Transforming a 1,080 CV hypercar into a roadster introduces immense aerodynamic challenges. Removing the roof alters airflow behavior, impacts chassis rigidity, and increases turbulence around occupants. Lamborghini’s solution was to completely rethink the upper aerodynamic surfaces of the car.

One of the Roadster’s defining elements is its newly developed windshield, which incorporates an elegant carbon fiber wing embossed with the Fenomeno Roadster logo. This integrated spoiler directs airflow over the cockpit and into the engine bay, ensuring the V12 receives consistent cooling air even without the roof mounted air scoop used on the coupe.

The rollover protection system posed another major engineering challenge. Beyond passenger safety requirements, the structures also needed to minimize wind turbulence and maintain aerodynamic efficiency at extreme speeds. Lamborghini integrated the carbon fiber rollover bars seamlessly behind the seats, allowing them to blend naturally into the sculpted rear bodywork and Speedster inspired humps.

The rear section itself draws inspiration from the Essenza SCV12 and classic 1970s racing prototypes. A large rear diffuser, active rear wing system, and optimized underbody maximize downforce and stability at high speeds.

The design language remains unmistakably Lamborghini. Sharp surfaces, dramatic air intakes, hexagonal motifs, and Y shaped lighting signatures appear throughout the bodywork. Even the engine cover celebrates the V12 beneath it with hexagonal vents designed to channel cooling air while visually framing the powertrain.

Mitja Borkert, Lamborghini’s Design Director, described the philosophy behind the car as creating a “feel like a pilot” experience. The cockpit architecture reinforces that idea with low seating, dramatic sightlines, and a central focus on the exposed engine area.

The Fenomeno Roadster’s dramatic performance is supported by one of the most advanced chassis structures Lamborghini has ever produced.

The car utilizes a multi technology carbon fiber monofuselage inspired by aerospace engineering principles. Rather than relying on a traditional carbon monocoque alone, Lamborghini integrates components such as the front crash structures, windshield frame, side skirts, and rear bulkhead into a single lightweight structural system using Forged Composite technology.

This innovative approach allows the Roadster to maintain rigidity levels close to the coupe despite the absence of a fixed roof. Lamborghini achieved this using a patented mixture of long and short carbon fibers that improves structural efficiency while also enhancing crash energy absorption.

The lightweight construction works in harmony with manually adjustable racing shock absorbers designed for both road and track use. Drivers can fine tune ride height and suspension settings depending on conditions, while the suspension geometry maximizes wheel control and damping precision.

Stopping power comes courtesy of Lamborghini’s CCM R Plus carbon ceramic braking system, which uses motorsport derived technologies and a specialized cooling structure to ensure consistent braking performance even under extreme thermal loads.

Bridgestone, Lamborghini’s long standing technical partner, developed bespoke Potenza tires specifically for the Fenomeno Roadster. The custom rubber is available in both ultra high performance road specifications and track focused semi slick compounds homologated for public roads.

As staggering as its technical specifications may be, the Fenomeno Roadster’s rarity may ultimately prove just as significant.

Lamborghini plans to build only 15 examples worldwide, ensuring the car instantly joins the ranks of the company’s most collectible creations. Each vehicle will likely undergo extensive personalization through Lamborghini’s bespoke Ad Personam program, allowing owners to tailor materials, finishes, and detailing to their exact preferences.

Every example will wear Blu Cepheus paintwork, a color inspired by the legendary 1968 Miura Roadster. Contrasting Rosso Mars accents reference the red and blue colors of Bologna, Lamborghini’s home city.

In many ways, the Fenomeno Roadster represents the perfect synthesis of Lamborghini’s past and future. It preserves the emotional intensity and visual excess that have defined the brand for decades while embracing hybrid technology capable of pushing performance to entirely new levels.

It is loud, dramatic, technically ambitious, and unapologetically extravagant. Exactly what a Lamborghini flagship should be.
